Question.1290 - Describe and discuss your two favorite leadership and management theories. Why are these your favorites and when have you witnessed them in action?

Answer Below:

My favorite theories are the “Great Man Theory” of leadership and the “transactional theory” of management, as we can apply them in formal and informal settings.  It is believed that the “Great Man Theory” can identify and define the unique qualities of great leaders with high attributions. In addition, this theory also has a historical value in developing concepts on leadership traits and has helped in the formation of modern leadership theories. The basic assumption of this theory is that famous leaders are born with specific traits that help them be great leaders. However, this theory has less value after the 20th century (Jawoosh et al., 2021). Moreover, it is seen that the recent theories on leadership have been formed on the basic assumption of the “Great man theory.” We have all witnessed many historical leaders bring a transformation in our society, and it is seen that all of them are great leaders, born with specific leadership traits, and who come ahead in any need.  The transactional management theory” guides the management process by emphasizing the structure, instructions, and monitoring capacities to help the employees. In addition, this theory also works with making goals for the employees through an arranging reward system (Wahyuni et al., 2020). As this theory follows “give and take policies” from the historical roots to manage people, it is famous in business settings for encouraging and motivating employees. In practice, we have witnessed that many interns are motivated by attractive rewards for fulfilling their targets or goals. Bill Gates is a famous example of a transactional leader in a reward-based management system.  References  Jawoosh, H. N., Hatem, A. D. H., RAZAK, M. A., & KZAR, M. H. (2021).
