The emergence and evolution of street gangs in cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago reflect complex social dynamics influenced by various factors, which is including economic conditions, cultural identity, and social breakdown. In the beginning, to respond to urban challenges gangs were formed which are like poverty, racial segregation, and lack of community resources (Vigil, 2010). From this gang, the marginalized youth used to get a sense of belonging and identity across different racial backgrounds. With time, they expanded their membership, while adapting to changing socio-economic landscapes to include diverse races and ethnicities. The motivations behind gang involvement are multifaceted. Monetary gain through illegal activities is a crucial factor but at the same time many youths are drawn to gangs to cope with social disintegration in their communities (Owen & Greeff, 2015). Through the gangs they receive protection, camaraderie, and a sense of purpose in environments which traditional support systems may lack. For example, female gang members joining a gang could be a reason for solidarity and self-affirmation, seeking refuge from abuse or neglect at home. From the primitive time, female participation in gangs was often viewed as secondary when compared to male.
