? Week 7 - Contradictions ?After carefully reviewing this week's lecture materials (videos, PPT lectures, and articles), please respond to the following question(s): Provide two personal or public examples of the presence of contradictions and any warning signs that you observed. In which cases was there a confirmation that some form of deceit had occurred? (See pp. 245-247 of the Mayfield text). Note: Please post your original response by Wednesday and respond to at least 2 peers by Sunday. In addition, follow APA guidelines and cite at least 1 resource to support your discussions; be sure to include a reference section at the end of your post. The two instances where I have observed contradiction is when public statements collide with private actions. This kind of contradiction can occur when an individual or private organization says one thing but does something behind closed doors. For example, a politician might preach to the masses and preach for environmental protection of the planet but when no one is looking he or she might be investing industry practices like dumping waste in oceans could one practice where the company or organization could that they are cleaning rivers and lakes to protect the biosphere but in real they might not care at all and continue to dump waste in order to get people to be on their side in show that they are good hearted when actually they are not. The warning signs suggest that ambiguous or very broad statements do not coincide with the mission or visions of the industry or organization. Deceit in this case can be identified from the sources of investigative journalism or a canary which reveals the whole truth (Mayfield, 2014). The second example is inconsistent behavior or statements. This type persists when an individuals behavior or statement differs depending on the setting and situation. For instance, a person may talk about having strong morals of respecting elders just to prove that he is a saint but in reality when no one is looking he might be disrespecting elders by talking back or when an elderly needs help crossing the street he may leave them to fend for themselves. Warning signs in this case could include instability in the persons behavior or speech, such as unprecedented changes in tone or changing sides for the sake of it. Deceit in this case can be found when these instances are seen by others around us (Mayfield, 2014). References Mayfield, M.
