Question.3922 - What are your overall reactions to the chapters and lectures?  What is something you found interesting and why?  Is there anything you're doubtful toward regarding the lecture or the text?

Answer Below:

The sections on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) presented in the chapters with the lectures offer a clear view of nonpharmacological interventions. Interestingly, I discovered the CBT history that goes back to Stoicism and the explicit importance of thought that defines our experiences. This bridging of the historical approaches with the modern identified therapy agenda shows that cognitive processes are still applicable to todays therapy. However, I have some doubts in regard with CBT intervention, done alone, without using other therapeutic modalities for at least CBT seems to imply that the therapist should not be empathic and genuine, as the text underlines that these are more or less decisive factors for successful intervention. This gives rise to some concerns as to the feasibility of a purely cognition-based therapy model.
