Question.1931 - If you were currently a hospital patient, what concerns would you have about your information, if any?  Do you know anyone who has experienced a problem when it comes to their personal information, and elaborate if you feel you can?  Lastly, where do you fall when it comes to trusting that your information will be protected given what you have experienced or are aware of with other people.

Answer Below:

Being a hospital patient, the concern that any individual will have would be relating to their health and the personal data provided while admitted into the hospital. Lately, we have heard about data breaches in the hospital industry, which lead to compromised patient data. In most cases, the compromising of the data of the patient occurred mostly due to cyber attacks, improper security measures, and negligence of the hospital staff. People admitted to the hospital make sure that their data is in safe hands. Leaking of medical data can be dangerous if it gets into the wrong hands. People like to go to institutions that have shown remarkable progress in safeguarding their data (Qiu, & Qiu, Liu & Memmi, 2020). Technology breakthroughs have increased the effectiveness and delivery of healthcare, but they have also created new obstacles to patient security and privacy protection. Healthcare institutions must make data security a top priority, take appropriate action to reduce risks and convince patients that their information is secure.  I have heard patients encounter these issues, and a few of my relative's medical information leaked, after which different healthcare benefit providers started calling to sell their medical schemes.
