Basic Components of Worldview Name: Course: Christian Worldview Date: Instructor: Be sure you answer both Part 1 and Part 2 of this assignment before submitting. Part 1: Core Worldview Beliefs Based on the basic components of worldview presented in Chapter 2 and the topic overview, write a response to each of the six questions that form the basic components of your own core worldview beliefs. Respond to the questions about your own beliefs in your own words, and not necessarily what you think the Christian worldview believes. Keep this document intact and only add your answers in the box under each question. What is your belief about the nature of ultimate reality? Why? Your answer in two to three sentences: I believe in theism which says God is the ultimate creator. In other words, tree, animals, human beings, water, wind are all the part of Gods work or creation. But I see the God as a higher energy which has no form but exists. What is your belief about the nature of the universe? Why? Your answer in two to three sentences: In my belief, the whole universe is the ultimate result of the Gods actions. It means, God is the source of each element that exists in the nature. What is your belief about human nature and the afterlife? Why? Your answer in two to three sentences: I believe each human being is unique creation of the Universe and each have their own purpose in this world. But fulfilling the purpose or not is all depends on the individual and their actions. Since I believe in spirituality, I believe after death, the body and spirit will isolate from each other. But personally, I believe this death and birth is an continuous cycle of this world. It means, a soul separated from the body find another body that is in the stage to take born and rebirth as another new human being but with the same old soul. What are the three worldview (atheism, pantheism, theism) beliefs about the nature of knowledge? Which one best fits your belief? Why? Your answer in two to three sentences: For an atheist, knowledge is believing that there is no God. This is their intuitive knowledge. The worldview of atheism relates to agnosticism. It means they are uncertain about the Gods existence. For Pantheists, knowledge itself is a from of God as they say everything that exists in the universe is a form of God. According to Theism, nature of knowledge is all comes from the creator of the universe. Their knowledge is generally based on the divinity. Atheism best fits my belief because I believe in higher energy. Rather than God, something unique exists in the world which is holding together this Universe. So, what people say is God is higher energy in my opinion. What is your basis for determining moral right from moral wrong? Why? Your answer in two to three sentences: In my opinion, an action or element that do not hurts any life or have bad intentions is moral right. Similarly, an action that has bad intentions is moral wrong. Any action that causes harm or hurts anyone without any knowledge is not falls under moral wrong. Also, an unethical action but helping someone to survive is not moral wrong, for instance a thief stealing food because his family has not had food from 2 days. This is not moral wrong in my opinion. What is your belief about human purpose? Why? Your answer in two to three sentences: In my opinion, each human being has their own responsibility and purpose in this world. Any situation or condition that has created in this world is the consequence of each human action and decision. As Christianity states, each human beings purpose is to take care of this world by collaborating and taking care of each other around them. Part 2: Evaluation Your answers to the questions in Part 1 form the basis of your worldview. Now that you have articulated your worldview, evaluate it according to the practical test described in Chapter 2 of the textbook and the topic overview. Which of the three worldviews most closely matches your core beliefs as you answered in Part 1? Does your worldview pass the practical test for livability? Why or why not? Provide a clear explanation of the workability and practical value in the most important areas of life and experience. Your answer in 200-300 words: The three worldviews most closely match my core beliefs are the whole universe constitutes as a God, each human being has their own purpose in this world, and the source of knowledge is nature/universe. I believe everything that I have access to comes from the universe (in my opinion, there is a positive source with the ultimate power with no form or shape) like, knowledge and wealth. So, my worldview passes the practical test for livability. The rate of factors that promotes the goodness of life refers to livability for instance, societal factors, environment, knowledge, economic growth, ability and opportunity to learn and find new things improve the life of human being. Each life that exists in nature has its own purpose like plants, animals, wind, water, and they are all fulfilling their purpose, so do we. These each element are considered as a part of God which is contributing to taking care of this universe. We receive each element from nature as we are part of it such as water, food, oil to run motors or vehicles, etc. These are all basic needs for a human being. The universe function is a give and take process. Let us say, we plant trees for the balance of ecosystem, we get oxygen and food for the survival. Reflect on your current understanding of the Christian faith. In other words, what is the essence of the Christian worldview? How does one become a Christian? Your response will need to articulate your understanding of Christian beliefs and does not require you to believe it. Your answer in 200-300 words: In the Christian belief, the life of human life or a soul goes through ups and downs, fights which means life is a test and everyone should go through it no matter what until nature decides to end the life. Bible is the base of Christian beliefs, which has mentioned how a Christian should lead a life. It gives kind of a guide to doing good deeds in this life and finally reaches Gods heart once the soul leaves the physical body. The essence of Christianity is that it depicts how a Christian should behave and act in society for ones own good. According to the bible, sharing, caring, and loving each those are surrounded by one is the main purpose of a human being. It is the primary practice of being a Christian because it is a strong belief in Christianity, the soul cannot impress God if one fails to live such a life. Christian gives teaching on what is morally wrong and what is morally right for those who want to lead a good life and aims to make the world a better place. Overall, it teaches what actions and behavior makes a human being because a human is superior animal who has more capabilities in taking care of this world.
