Answer Below:

Ethical Decision-Making Name: Course: Christian Worldview Date: Instructor: For questions 2-6, chose from the "Decision-Making Cases" document in the topic Resources. Use critical thinking as well as support from the topic Resources to answer the following prompts. Why do Christians believe that morality is absolute and objective, rather than relative and subjective? If morality is objective, where do Christians get their moral standard? Cite Chapter 7 of The Beginning of Wisdom textbook and/or topic overview. Include the resources you use on a reference page at the end of this document. Your answer in 75-100 words: The basic belief of Christians comes from the bible (teachings from Jesus). They think there should be guidelines to live life in an ethical way, like that guideline shows which is right and which is wrong. Again here, ethics is the systematic study of moral principles that are concerned mainly with beliefs and judgments regarding right and wrong. Also, everyone knows that the right and wrong elements are decided by God or the creator of the universe. They do not think that each has different morality since they all follow one God that is Jesus Christ. Hence, any action of a person is judged based on the teachings of Jesus. So, Christians believe that morality is absolute and objective and not relative and subjective. Use the case you chose from the "Decision-Making Cases" document to answer the following questions to build the Christian ethical response. Use logical reasoning (general revelation). Cite Bible passages (special revelation), The Beginning of Wisdom textbook, and/or the topic overview. Include the resources you use on a reference page at the end of this document. Which case did you choose? Abortion In Chapter 2 of The Beginning of Wisdom textbook and the Topic 1 Overview, the elements of a worldview (ultimate reality, nature of the universe, humanity, knowledge, ethics, purpose) are presented. In the case you chose, which worldview element is going to be the biggest factor for determining right and wrong in the case you chose? Why? Your answer in 75-100 words: In my opinion, humanity is going to be the biggest factor for determining right and wrong in the case of abortion. If we follow the teachings of Jesus, each life is a Gods gift and has the right to live in the universe. But if we see scientifically, the disease that the baby gets in the womb is not Gods work, it is result of biological elements. God just creates a soul and put it in a womb. According to spirituality, their soul (immoral) is different and the body (temporary) is different. So, if the baby born with disease that is never going to cure in the future (and it is sure). So, instead of making that child to be born with disabilities is not a happy thing for parents and the child. It suffers throughout life. To take the life of a child is not ethical but it is also not good to just let the child to live with a disability that later would be affected by depression, shame, and lack of strength. How does the Christian worldview describe the worldview element you identified? Your answer in 75-100 words: According to the bible, human beings are created in the image of God, which means perfect beings. It means humanity is a set of elements derived from God, such as love, faith, care, compassion, and loyalty. In addition, humanity is basically filled with emotions, the mind, ability to create or have thoughts of their own. But human beings have not used these elements properly because they have also got the power to make their decisions. Without such power of free will, humans are not called as moral beings. What are Bible passages (cite two or three) that will guide the ethics for the case you choose? How do these Bible passages apply to this case? Your answer in 75-100 words: Jeremiah 1:5 - Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. Psalm 139:14 - For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mothers womb. Based on your answers to b and c, explain the Christian response to the case you chose. In other words, how might the Christian worldview resolve the issue? Your answer in 75-100 words: Definitely, the fundamental Christian belief suggests that taking away innocent life is not moral and that doesn't define humanity. Jesus Christ has mentioned in the bible that is simply scolding someone is equal to murdering someone. Hence, Christianity will not agree with taking away that child's life even though it has to be born with a disease. It means, that Christianity values each life that comes to this universe, whether it is normal or abnormal. This is necessary teaching for the world that each life matters. Your previous responses built a Christian ethical stance and provided a Christian resolution for the case. How might this Christian resolution to the issue increase human dignity and human value? Your answer in 50-75 words: Showing humanity increases human dignity and human value. Supporting the unborn child who doesnt have their own voice to stand for themselves shows human worth and humanity. According to the Christians world, all lives are a blessing. It is not only about the unborn child but supporting each human around us also shows humanity. The Christian position that humans should flourish comes from belief in the goodness of God. How so? What are the connections between God's goodness and human flourishing? Your answer in 50-75 words: According to the Christian world, the goodness and grace humans get from God, wash all the evil sins in human beings. Human flourishing is nothing but human growth with time. So, Christianity teachings encourage such growth by promoting happiness. It means that when there is happiness, the growth is definite. Although, as we all know, since we are moral beings, we experience suffering and facing it is a big challenge for everyone. But that is how a human being finds growth. Considering the Christian resolution you built for the case and everyone involved in the scenario, what might be some benefits or unintended consequences that come from this resolution? What might be challenging for people to accept or do? Your answer in 75-100 words: The consequence of having abortion is on health and emotional state of mother. Of course, having abortion is not that healthy but it is not that dangerous to life of the mother. But on the other hand, it can impact on mothers emotional condition as she lose the child. Abortion could impact on mental state of the mother like PTSD and depression. Also, it will be heavily challenging for Ruth and family to accept the fact of not having child. What are some ways that Christians should be active in helping to alleviate the suffering related to this issue? Give specific examples that ordinary people can do. Your answer in 75-100 words: Being active and concerned regarding helping to alleviate the suffering related to abortion is necessary. A good number of young women who are pregnant tend to get depressed since they feel that they have ruined their future by being in this position. To help such people, we can provide counseling or education so that they understand that they can face the motherhood instead of killing an innocent child. The people around them should support them in all aspects, and pray for humanity and help those who cannot afford having a baby get a proper care for their own safety. Helping each other should be a principle for Christians as well as many other major religions who believe it's their responsibility to serve and love one another, not only with our words but with our actions too!
