Question.1847 - I n t r o d u c t i o n Over the eight weeks of the course, you will work on a paper that addresses a current controversial issue. This paper is to be in the form of an argument. You will select a topic, choose an issue related to that topic, thoroughly research both sides of the issue, and then write a paper that supports one side or the other of the issue. Your paper must define the issue, present evidence on both sides of the issue, and then argue that one side is stronger and more persuasive than the other. Your paper must address at least three relevant aspects of the issue. More specific directions for each part of the paper will be found within the specific assignment in the weekly modules. Answer Below:
The topic chosen here is Pandemic Planning and response and the paper will highlight the experience that United States has from the last pandemic and what actions has it in place to make sure that it is ready for any type of pandemic in future. Covid-19 pandemic had made United States economy not only shatter down but take away a lot of lessons from the disaster that it plans to learn for any upcoming pandemic that it might face in future and be ready for it (Burwell, 2020). The paper explores three aspects that is a major takeaway for United States after covid -19 pandemic unfolded to prepare for any upcoming pandemic and respond to it in future. First is to adapt to a robust strategy that can help them prepare for domestic as well as for global pandemic by prioritizing the process of U.S preparedness and different acts towards this by investing in it accordingly. In the United States, the task force gives recommendation that they treat pandemics in such a manner that it is a national security threat and makes the pandemic preparedness into a concrete action. It is needed that the country makes preparations for any future pandemic a national security priority and in the form of a deed. In the recent past, covid-19 pandemic proved the fact that health security should be the main topic of national security and a major factor for the overall safety of all the citizens. Hence, the USA should be adapting towards this reality by having the process of pandemic preparedness with the same in hand and into action. Another aspect about the topic that will be discussed is the fact the U.S federal government to be adopting a dynamic national strategy that will help to have a preparation of pandemic as well as organize them for having overall success and finally put up a budget to face this task (Burwell, 2020). Covid-19 pandemic poses a threat on the health of growing Americans that also exceeds the risks put up by transnational terrorism. The executive branch should take this seriously by reducing the threat of any new infection’s diseases in the National security Strategy under the Congress by different departments of the state. The third aspect that will be explored here will include the fact of reviewing the responsibilities towards pandemic preparedness for authorities of public health at a federal, state, local and national level in such a manner that federalism becomes an asset instead of a liability for the United States health security. The pandemic of Corona virus was a great example to prove that all U.S federal system should be having authorities, responsibilities that are clear to them at the time of such type of pandemic that starts to pop up.
