Consequences of the Fall and Contemporary Response Name: Course: Christian Worldview CWV 101 Date: Instructor: Be sure you answer Part One, Part Two, Part Three, and the Reference section of this assignment before submitting. Part One: Human Nature in Genesis 1-3 Use and cite at least two of the following topic Resources: textbook Chapter 4, Topic 3 Overview, "The Mystery of Original Sin" article, and Bible passages. Cite all of the resources used with in-text citations. Include all the sources you cite on a reference section at the end of this document. Based on at least two of the listed topic Resources, type your answer to the following questions in the box beneath each question. What is revealed about human nature (from Genesis 1-2)? Cite and reference the textbook. Your answer in 100-150 words: Genesis 1-2 discusses Gods creation which is human beings and the wisdom they have (DiVincenzo, 2014). Well, human beings were not only the creation of God but also animals, birds, insects, etc. Out of all that, human nature was built with superior ability and power compared to other living beings and this is the gift from God who created humans to serve this universe. According to Genesis 1-2, we human beings have the ability to think, feel, speak, and make decisions. In other words, it is explained in Genesis that human nature is unique as it has the aptitude to analyze and understand things. With this given knowledge, we human beings understand God and the nature we are surrounded by. Genesis 1-2 also states that human beings are created by God in his own image, which further discusses that human beings are gifted with some of the attributes of God, such as love, care, compassion, trust, and faith. What are the consequences of the fall for human nature (from Genesis 3)? Your answer in 100-150 words: The fall is all about how Sin was brought to the world, which corrupted the whole world, including human nature. As per the understanding of this weeks module materials, Satan comes in a duplicate form and convinces Eve to have forbidden fruits and without any reasoning, Adam eats those fruits as well. Adam and Eve did not even listen to God when he asked not to eat the tree of knowledge. This action of Adam and Eve was considered a Sin because they refused Gods order and requested with their complete sense. From this, the fall began and the primary consequence of this was death. In other words, Adam and Eve were born with immortal power but then, including them, humans became mortal. Apart from death, pain and suffering took birth in the world. These are also considered as the consequences of going against Gods decisions or orders. In the story, Eve blamed Satan for all of his actions as humans do the same they blame others and the world for their problems. Eve and Adam could not control their curiosity and ate the fruit and we human beings are inventing new things continuously due to the increased curiosity and it seems like we suffer its consequences too. What is revealed about human purpose? What does it mean for humans to flourish, in other words, to achieve spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being? Cite and reference "The Mystery of Original Sin" article. Your answer in 100-150 words: God created human beings filling them with some of his own elements such as love, faith, and thinking ability which was a unique gift given to humans compared to all other creations in the universe (DiVincenzo, 2014). So, the significant purpose of God in offering such gifts was that he wanted human beings to protect the universe with the help of all the power they have. To live a better and happy life, understanding God, having faith in him, and serving his order and wishes are necessary. We human beings should make God as the center of our lives (DiVincenzo, 2014). Then we understand everything happens to us for a reason with the will of God and God has a purpose. In this process of human life, we achieve spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being. How would pantheism or atheism (choose one) view human nature, human purpose, and human flourishing? Your answer in 100-150 words: The basic belief of pantheism is that the universe is considered as God, which means God exists in each element of this universe. Pantheists do not believe that there is a God in human form in heaven like Christians believe, but they think that the different laws and forces that exist in the universe are equal to God (DiVincenzo, 2014). So they respect each element of this universe and aim to protect and connect with each other and share love, care, and protect each of them if they want to survive. This belief system comes from spirituality which says what each human being chooses or prefers is an individuals decision as per the situation (DiVincenzo, 2014). As pantheists reject personal immortality, they think a good personality, behavior, and thoughts help to build a better life with a meaningful purpose. The question, "How can an all-powerful, all knowing, and all good God allow suffering?" is called the problem of evil and suffering. Briefly summarize the Christian worldview's response to the problem of evil and suffering. Cite and reference the topic overview and/or the textbook. Your answer in 100-150 words: As per the understanding textbook material, the world was in harmony till the fall of humanity (DiVincenzo, 2014). Due to the fall of humanity, sin and suffering were brought into the world. Well, the fall of humanity was not due to God. Eve and Adam made their choices even though God asked them not to. By the time they realize their mistake, they have already lost their relationship with God and lost their power of being immortal. This means the all-powerful God does not allow human beings to suffer but their own actions and decisions. According to the video God and suffering, God has given all the power to humans, such as making their own decision, thinking and recognizing which is wrong and right, but still, humans sometimes make bad decisions due to the situations they are stuck in (PragerU, 2014). So the problem of evil and suffering is not because of God. Part Two: Consequence of the Fall Today Select a Christian organization from the "Christian Organizations That Address a Consequence of the Fall" list provided in the topic Resources. Based upon your selection, research the issue that organization addresses. Use and cite at least two academic resources from the GCU Library. Cite all of the resources used with in-text citations. Include all the sources you cite on a reference section at the end of this document. Based on your research, address the following: highlight how the consequences of the fall are evident in the issue(s) that the organization addresses; include statistics, causes, and impact on people (victim, perpetrator, others as appropriate). Your answer in 75-100 words: Feed my Starving Children aims to feed hungry children who are mostly suffering due to the disasters like wars, floods, earthquakes. For instance, A war in the northern part of one Central African country has leftover 300,000 people internally displaced (Smith, 2022). While the government focuses on wars, innocents suffer from that. The present war going on between Russia and Ukraine is the same kind of example where people are suffering from food as the whole country is focused on winning battles. These actions were taken by the nations for the war impacting on the poor and innocent people as leaving them to suffer from hungriness. Describe how this issue creates dehumanization and diminishes human dignity. Include statistics, causes, and impact on people (victim, perpetrator, others as appropriate). Your answer in 75-100 words: In those leftover 300,000 people, many were suffering from the loss of their parents, children, friends. In the process of gaining political power on another the other, innocent lives of the same countries are suffering from the pain, loss, and physical damage. Such actions of war demonstrate inhumanity, how human nature has fallen down and lost its dignity with inhumane acts. This is very clear that God did not come to earth and tell humans to fight for power and property; rather, they have made their own decision and those decisions are making humans suffer from pain. One more example is a natural disaster Rai (known in the Philippines as Typhoon Odette) pummeled the islands with torrential rain, violent winds, landslides and storm surges. More than 400 lives were lost, hundreds of thousands are homeless and millions of livelihoods were thrown into jeopardy. Damages to agriculture and infrastructure total at least $563 million (Smith, 2022). Human is not directly the reason for this natural disaster but indirectly humans are the reasons. Nature has lost the balance because of human activities and now we are the one who are suffering. Part Three: Analysis of a Christian Organization's Solution Use and cite the organization's website, in addition to the topic Resources. Cite all of the resources used with in-text citations. Include all the sources you cite on a reference section at the end of this document. Write how the Christian worldview ministry that you selected is combatting the consequence of the fall. What organizational statement reveals that this organization is operating from a Christian worldview? Your answer in 250-300 words: The organization often mentions with the Gods help in their website, which means they believe that helping in that way is Gods wish and following those instincts is their purpose in this universe. The mission state of the organization is another example to explain how they are working with the belief of the Christian worldview (they consider people as Gods children) Feeding Gods starving children hungry in body and spirit (FMSC, 2021). It means the organization believes in love, care, faith, and helping our surroundings which are the attributes fixed in human nature by God. This inspiration of helping people by curing the hunger of millions is taken from Jesus Christ, who was God came to earth in the form of humans. Humans with superior power are the creation of God with the purpose of protecting this universe. Here, saving the universe includes each element that exists, including humans itself. So, the power and ability given by God are love, faith, thinking and reasoning ability, knowledge, care, compassion, and capability to make informed decisions. The same human special powers are with the Feed my Starving Children organization as they are concerned about the sufferings of humanity is presently going through. The information available on the organizations website, their actions and programs clearly shows how they are eager to help people across the world with making an agreement with multiple organizations as they deeply believe in God. In addition, this also shows the organization has the understanding of Gods purpose of instilling some of his powers in Humans and they are simply using them to help and serve other humans. Explain how the organization uses a God-centered worldview (as defined in the "The Mystery of Original Sin" article) to address dehumanization and restore human dignity. Your answer in 250-300 words: The value of the Feed my Starving Children organization is stated as, At Feed My Starving Children, all our work is informed by our core values and rooted in our faith in Christ (FMSC, 2021). This depicts that their aim, purpose, beliefs, and actions are clearly centered on God. Another statement of the organization goes like this We are inspired by faith in Christ (FMSC, 2021). It shows that the organization deeply believes in God and his intentions. They have considered following the path and instincts given by God is their purpose as human beings and serving humanity with an honest heart. One thing that inspired me is that the organization does not only aim to take care of one country but the suffering souls across the world. They state that they will not stop serving people until they make sure that no individual is suffering from hunger. By these actions of them, the organization is trying to restore humanity into the world again by inspiring other people to join them and donate and help people with them. They are not only filling the stomach of hungry people but also encouraging and teaching others to involve in their honest work, which shows humanity. The purpose and mission of the organization is to show the real humanity to the world which has already lost humanity and focus on self-wellness. On the other hand, they dont say they are alone doing such a great thing to the world but say God is helping them , which again shows their belief is centered with God (FMSC, 2021).
