Question 1 Hierarchy of links in Hotel Paris International The company has a system of well-defined hierarchy in organizational management which is evident from the fact that the top management team provides the overall direction of the branding and operations of the hotel which involves selecting the corporate strategy and brand positioning. This strategy provided the framework within which the HR managers and the overall human resource team operate in. So, in the case of Hotel Paris, the top management team lays the overall planning system while the bottom management team provides support to implement the necessary strategies. Workforce competencies and behavior required The company has to ensure the development of the following competencies within its workforce: ? Congenial and warm communication: The workforce needs to develop congenial and warm communication competencies in order to delight the clients and ensure repeat services and positive recommendations from the clients. ? High motivation levels: The workforce needs to develop high degree of motivation levels for the fulfilment of the goal of ensuring that the employees are always at the services of the guests of the Hotel. ? Patience and positive attitude and behaviour: in view of the need for the development of good workforce which takes into account the needs of the guests, patience and positive attitude should form a part of the behavior of the workforce. Question 2 Measuring HR practices While measuring the effectiveness of the HR practices the company can employ a number of HR metrics which have been discussed below: ? HR cost: The company has to assess the cost it has to incur while employing the HR policies which are in line to achieve the stated company objective of delighting the guests through all possible means. These costs are necessary to be assessed as the company has to weigh the costs against the rewards that it earns. ? HR turnover: HR turnover and the costs associated with turnover are critical assessment points for the company. The effectiveness of company’s HR practices can be analyzed through turnover costs which shall be reflected in low turnover rate and costs. ? Absence rate: This metric would provide commentary on the motivation levels of the workforce. Lower absence rate would indicate motivated workforce and better HR policies. ? Engagement and satisfaction rating: Through this metric the company would be able to understand the overall percentage of employees who feel satisfied about the overall HR policies present in the company. ? Tenure: This provides the details of the number of years that the employees have spent within the company at all levels. A high tenure rate would provide an assessment that more number of employees are satisfied with the company’s HR policies These metrics would help the firm to improve and bring about necessary changes in its HR policies, if required.
