Question.1024 - Think of a scenario in which you might use simple or multiple regression in your home or work life, to find out something useful. What data would you use? What findings would you expect? Write a brief, basic description of what you have in mind.
Answer Below:
There are various examples where simple and multiple regression analysis can be useful (Bevans, 2023). I thought of a scenario where I am a personal trainer, and I want to create a regression model to predict my clients' weight loss. I considered initial weight, gender, age, and height the independent variables and weight loss after 10 weeks as the dependent variable. I would collect this data for this period and ask the client to track their weight and exercise routine. I expect to find a positive correlation between starting weight and weight loss after 10 weeks. This means clients who start with a higher weight are likelier to lose more after 10 weeks. The more exercise they do, the more fit the clients will be, and they tend to lose weight after 10 weeks. I would also expect that gender, age, and height significantly impact weight loss. For example, women lose more weight than men, and older clients lose less weight than younger clients. I would use the findings from this regression model to create personalized weight loss plans for my clients (Bevans, 2023). I would also use the findings to identify factors most likely to contribute to weight loss so that I can focus my training on those areas. References Bevans, R. (2023).
