A contemporary leader uses all the skills of his/her employees to build his organization and grow the business while motivating individuals with personal influences so that they all will learn and grow at the same time. An ideal contemporary leader generally has many traits that help her/him to survive in such a modern competitive world. Matthew is one of my closest buddies (The name taken is not real because I don't want to disclose, but the story is true) who was working in a core company, but he realized that he could not just work from morning to evening for some fixed amount for the work he does not enjoy. The reason is, he was interested in opening a caf?, but for some personal reason, he set the plan aside for some years. After his realization, he decided to open a caf? with his savings. He had his few own recipes and as I have seen, he is the great human being that I have ever seen. As a friend and colleague, he was very down to earth, used to help people no matter in what conditions he was (emotionally or financially). Overall, he was great at treating people and this defines his human skills. Since he has his own unique recipes, he will definitely grab those foodies who love to try new ones. In addition, he always used to discuss with me whenever we used to go for dinner or lunch to restraint or a caf? about what they could improve to attract customers. He always believed in building trusty relationships in personal and professional life. Hence, it means he knew or at least had some ideas how to build his business well if he opens a caf?. Today, I can say that he is a successful businessman and a leader. But what could have made him one such? When he opened a caf?, he had a minimal budget but still managed to build a better place for people to hang out, celebrate, meet their friends, and work if they wanted. He has tried to use nature-friendly elements in his business. He has hired such good employees who can resemble his personality, for instance, treating people or serving them quality food as they promise to their customers. He has many regular customers and I believe making a good impact on customers so that they can come again defines the healthy state of a business. If a customer is visiting again, the caf? means he provides a good quality of food and satisfies them with the taste. He has built an amicable relationship with his employees and each is very passionate about what they are doing. Again, here I can say that he knows what kind of employees he wants and should hire. Matthew has given the freedom to his employees that they come and discuss their issues related to the workplace anytime and to give any ideas and business they have to improve the business. Sometimes, he prepares some food items and even serves to customers to know his customers and whether they are satisfied with the service. They also ask their customers if they have any expectations in food taste or the way they serve or about the place (only if they are interested in suggesting). I guess this is a very great strategy to stay on top of the competition in today's world. He believes every individual has leadership skills. As I can see his path of success, he has the ability to respond to various conditions and fluctuating environments. He has been close with his employees and is concerned about their ideas, suggestions, and growth and issues they face because he practices a collaborative work environment approach. When Matthew wants to make changes, for example, the menu items, he considers the suggestions of his employees and gives a thought on each one's ideas. This makes employees feel they are valued. This has been motivating them to show more and honest involvement in the work they deliver for the caf?. I have talked to some of their employees and they are happy with how they are treated at work. On the other hand, it amazed me when I saw the way each of them collaborates with others in work.
