Do you think the outcome of each scenario would be different based on your choices? Why or why not?
Answer Below:
Hello Class! Pat's case is the best example to understand the skills approach. In the leadership skills approach, elements that matter are abilities and the knowledge that a leader has. Pat has hired many employees to the Central Bank from many college campuses. Every time he went for the recruitment, he has brought 20 new talented employees to the organization.? He knows how to do his job well and more importantly, he loves what he does. He has the knowledge of the recruitment method, for example considering the factors that are requirements for the particular role he is searching employees for. Also, as per the reassessment requirement, he was asked by the bank management, he is thinking to consider new strategies and understanding better methods to get employees who can retain for a long time in the bank. Hence this shows Pat's ability to learn new things as he is truly passionate about his job. Andy's approach of business explains trait approach to leadership style well as he has completely different style of running his restaurant business. For example, the way Andy treats his customers, provide the quality service, the restaurant environment created are making benefit to it and dominating other similar restaurants in competition. This explains the different approach in the business because Andy is providing such services that other are not providing. Hence this makes him a better leader. Betsy approach of leadership style has made different impact on the team members compared to what impact does Marianne has made with his leadership style. Her behavior towards team members is ethical but strict but the way the employees have taken is different.? As there are two types of behaviors, Betsy's leadership type refers to task behaviors which has its own advantages and disadvantages (Northouse, 2021).? If I was Andy, I would have followed the same approach as it is mentioned in the case. because as there is an increased competition in the food industry today, providing the service to the customers which not given by other competitors is necessary to stay on top in the market. If I was Betsy, I would used relationship behaviors approach which can create better relationship with employees by also taking work done by them. If I was Pat, I would have chosen skills approach because Pat's role requires technical, conceptual, and human skills to interact, implement, understand applicants to hire better, talented, and those who retain for a long time as it is currently necessary for the bank according to the scenario.
