About Us Take My Online Class

Question.2386 - I have several favorite authors, Barbara Kingsolver, Susan Monk Kidd, and Pat Conroy to name a few.  I also enjoy reading over and over classic works by authors like Jane Austen and Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Mark Twain).  My favorite book of all time is, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.  Like the clothes we wear and the cars and trucks we drive, our taste in literature says something about who we are, and what we believe in. For this forum, I would like you to reflect on what kinds of stories you are drawn to and the authors that write them. You may find you have something in common with other students, or you may be surprised by their choices.  In any case, I hope you enjoy reading the posts.

Answer Below:

I have a lot of authors to admire and reread their books. But the books written by Khaled Hosseini stands out in the list. The fact that I often go back and read them makes the books and the author my favorite. Khaled Hosseini has authored five great books: Kite runner, A thousand splendid suns, And the mountains echoed and Sea prayer. I first read the book Kite runner and was amazed by the fluidity of the book. The complex characters of the book makes us think hard about friendship, good and evil, betrayal, and redemption. His books are created within historic upheavals and are narrated with a strong intimacy of family and village life. The fact that his books portray the raw emotions that humans go through in societies with oppression and cruelty. The characters are painted with complex colors that add to the fabric of the story lending them sympathy of the reader. The books provide for a great source of history in the way that it shows how the other part of the world live. The encounters as depicted by his central characters challenge the basic notions of the readers. But at the same time, the story offers immense hope and strength thereby capitalizing on the idea that hard times makes strong men and women. The history and political impacts do not take a center stage but the reader can fully understand the interplay of society and politics on the lives of citizens and how rules and regulations of the society impact the citizens and write their destiny. In the book Kite Runner, I felt sympathy, happiness, and anger at different points in the book. The characters become real people when I start reading them and they draw me to a completely different world created by the author. This makes it ery difficult for me to put down the book at some points.
