1. What did you think worked well in this course? That is, what was useful to you in terms of learning, understanding the content, etc? After conducting the research, I realized that the thing that worked well in this course was the introduction and rationale sections, which allowed for establishing the importance of the research topic and thereby provided motivation to do the study. I have realized the study to be highly meaningful, as it will allow communication of the problem of domestic violence, its widespread impact, and the existing prevention programs. Another aspect that worked well is the inclusion of relevant statistics, such as the prevalence of domestic violence globally and the government’s efforts for its control, which largely helped me realize the seriousness of the context. The literature review also worked well, as I have realized that it is comprehensive and provides a thorough examination of existing research on domestic violence reduction programs as well as led to the understanding of the usage of intimate partner violence programs, usage of other domestic violence offender intervention programs, and effectiveness of domestic violence reduction programs. The research question and hypothesis are clearly mentioned, which gives proper direction to the study. The rationale for choosing a quantitative research method is well justified. 2. What did you think did not work well? That is, what should I consider tweaking in future semesters? In this study, there are some areas, that I now have realized did not work well in the organization of the report which may be improved if the literature review is structured in a way highlighting key findings and trends from different studies. I have now realized that the inclusion of a timeline or schedule for the research could have been better for understanding the expected duration and milestones of the study. Moreover, there might be more explicit mention of assumptions or limitations in the methodology. 3. Overall, what do you think about the course? Overall, I think the course is that it is well-structured and informative, as it properly introduces the research topic, a comprehensive literature review, and a research design. The course allowed me to gain a good understanding of the issue of domestic violence and the importance of assessing the effectiveness of intervention programs.
