Final Reflection Rene Munoz Point Loma Nazarene University Sustainability in Action SUS4075 Dr. Dan Jacobson July 2nd, 2023 Final Reflection During my sustainability class, I came across several?studies and?articles?on renewable energy and improved land-use practices in America and around the globe. This issue struck a chord with me because it shone a light on the need for sustainability in areas with a rich industrial past but facing economic collapse as traditional manufacturing industries disappear, as discussed in my research paper. The course?gave useful insights into the issues that local?communities confront, as well as suggestions for making them more ecologically conscious and sustainable for future generations. As I discussed, the?necessity of using renewable energy resources in the Rust Belt region was one of?the primary outcomes of the learning I picked up from the course. Since the entire course?emphasized the various area's availability of wind, solar, and biomass resources, as well as the importance of harnessing these resources for economic growth while minimizing environmental damage in various diverse ways with creative innovation infused, this was especially important in light of climate change and the need to transition away from fossil fuels. By adopting renewable energy sources, these towns may not only cut greenhouse gas emissions but also create new employment possibilities for their skilled labor force, which is knowledgeable in areas such as manufacturing. The possibility of reusing abandoned manufacturing buildings and underutilized land for renewable energy infrastructure was emphasized in the assigned textbook; I was able to learn that this method not only revitalizes barren soil, but it also optimizes land resources and reduces environmental impacts; this idea was incorporated?into the final research paper I wrote such that the target local?communities may improve their economic resilience and the general well-being of their residents by implementing improved land-use practices that create visually beautiful and ecologically friendly settings.More Articles From Strategic Management
