Question.5303 - Week 1: Community Food SystemsPlease use this discussion forum to begin to explore community food systems in a reflective space. Address the following mini-prompts in your first post:Define/describe a community food system from your knowledge/understanding at this point. Share how you view yourself positioned within a community food system (personal and/or professional).Illustrate a point of significance from the readings that you would like to discuss with the group. Also, for this course, you will be identifying a community food system practitioner/organization/space that will be the focus of your CFS Narrative. We will be working toward this selection in the discussion forum for Week 2 and Week 3. The readings this week illustrated the community food system movement as an alternative paradigm that is represented by individual actors and organizations implementing innovative practices to create change. For the CFS narrative assignment, you will select a project, organization, individual practitioner/actor, or other space that is of interest to you in the community food system movement. This guiding topic is very broad to allow for you to experience the course content while diving deeper into a topic that is meaningful to you and then share that inquiry back with the group. In a second post on this discussion forum, please address one or two areas of interest:Share some detail about the project, organization, individual practitioner/actor, or other space.Share why this interests you.Describe how you might learn more.Requirements: You must respond to each discussion board each week with your own reply to the provided prompts; this can be done via a written response or a video recording. Beyond that, you must participate in 9 weeks out of the 11 weeks of discussion boards with replies to classmates. Those 10 replies to classmates’ posts will require two elements:A 100 word written response each week that you choose to participateOne question each week that you choose to participate (i.e. literally one sentence that ends in a question mark)Note: These replies/questions can be with the same person or different people. You may choose how you manage your reply/question each week amongst the posts available to you when you log on. Essentially, each week you must post a thorough reply to the provided prompts. In 9/11 weeks (your choice as to which weeks you will and will not participate), you must also respond to a peer in 100 words, plus an additional question to the same person or another person (your choice). The idea is that you have 2 weeks off from replies during the semester; you can front load by doing them all in Weeks 1-9, or you can intentionally participate when you know you have more time. We understand that life happens, so you have a 2 week off buffer within the semester that you can use to best fit your schedule and lifestyle. There will, however, be separate requirements for the final discussion board for the final presentations. These requirements will be outlined in that assignment.
