Question 1 The poem Iliad describes the chronicles of the Trojan War, which was there for 10 years. Achilles is one of the essential characters in the Iliad. Achilles is governed by anger. He feels wrath against the commander Agamemnon since he feels the commander is overpowering his achievements. According to Aristotle, "Anger may be defined as an impulse, accompanied by pain, to a conspicuous revenge for a conspicuous slight directed without justification towards what concerns oneself or towards what concerns one's friends" (Module). This definition of anger fits Achilles' character development, as he disowns the fight since he is left with unfair treatment. When he leaves the war, he sends his friend Patroclus to fight in the war. This leads to the death of his friend through Hector, and eventually, he kills Hector. A common thing in these killings is Patroclus and Hector; both are wearing Achilles' armor. Even though Achilles was not killed during the whole process of war but he kills himself as now he is disembarked by the boon of staying immortal. Secondly, he kills Hector, wearing his armor, thereby killing himself. The wrath is self-inflicting to Achilles as his perceived notion about the event consumes him, whereas the wisdom does not stand a chance since we as humans are distracted by our thoughts and ego. Question 2 A self-destructive behavior that I have personally witnessed is Procrastination. It may sound trivial. Procrastination is a habit that makes an individual feel weak for opportunities. Since the time is often wasted as it is pushed, “I will do it an hour later”. That corrupts the purpose of action. This is a habit that can cause self-destruction. Especially during work and assignments, Procrastination may cause some lethal problems, it would harm productivity and grades. There have been many instances in my life, due to Procrastination, I have lost a significant opportunity to represent myself in one of the sports events in my school.
