Question.2398 - How do you think colonialism has affected or impacted your own life?

Answer Below:

How do you think colonialism has affected or impacted your own life? Colonialism has both positive as well negative affect on my life. While the positive impact is the exchange of information and ideas with diverse culture around the world. Through colonialism products produced elsewhere is made available to us. Furthermore, we can reap the benefits of the amalgamation between different cultures and countries through trading. Colonialism also facilitated the exchange of knowledge and talents between different cultures. However, colonialism also some negative impacts. The recent covid-19 pandemic has been the classic example of the adverse impact of colonialism. The spread of infections and virus has been the most drastic effect of colonialism. The settlers from different countries and continents brings hazardous virus, which can be fatal for the host country habitants. The same has impact me also as I have contracted the coronavirus infection from a foreign traveller. The coronavirus infection has been the most deadly virus in the recent times. If there had been no migration of people from one country to another, the contagious virus would not have spread. Colonialism has also led to the availability of processed meat and canned food produced in different countries (Schneewind, 2020) . With the accessibility of fast food and junkies in the market, the reliability on fresh grown produce reduces, and a lifestyle of unhealthy eating habits sets in. These factors have a long run adverse impact on the health of the population. Similarly, even I am addicted to the quick cooking strategy, as life has become fast paced. Reliance on tanned and processed food and fast food has become a part of my life. Too much reliance on these cooking methods or eating habits might pose problem in future, and I need to be cautious of the lifestyle. Thus, I need to identify which colonialism impact is good for my health and avoid those that might pose a risk to my health. References Schneewind, C. (2020).
