Madison Dunn EDUC-1301-016 Kimberly Hochmeister April 21, 2022 Philosophy of Teaching Essay When I retire, I imagine people to say that I have been a dedicated teacher throughout my life- devoted her life to nurturing young minds. At the same time, offering the curious minds a place to thrive, providing more impetus to their thinking through various activities. At the same time, I wish to be remembered as someone who contributed in nurturing exceptional students with the right platform and creativity. My current educational studies have shown me that I subscribe to the theory of Progressivism and Existentialism. I favor Essentialism and Perennialism in theory. I also favor Progressivism, Perennialism, and Existentialism in practice. My philosophy in teaching is to centre school around the kids' concerns, interests, and real-life experiences. When these philosophies come together, they can enhance the student's learning ability. Since we're observing videos during the pandemic: My observations have shown me that the theories of this course are largely evident in videos on - Nature's classroom - Forest Kindergarten as it is focuses on the overall development of children keeping nature as the medium. Through this philosophy the teachers want children to develop an interface with Nature and develop their thinking and reasoning ability. The whole teaching process is closely in alignment with Howard's Multiple Intelligence theory. Inside the Classroom, Cramer School 1st Grade is a video that could be closely related to progressivism; it centers school around the kids' concerns, interests, and real-life experiences. The video reflects on the teacher who aids learning by assisting students in formulating insightful questions and developing techniques to answer those questions. Woodland Kindergarten of Waldkindergarten is a mix of Howards' multiple Intelligences and perennialism. The kindergarten had all the elements that would be required to enhance Multiple Intelligence and at the same time focus on the different skills of children like the gross motor skills, fine motor skills, their interaction with peers, and computational ability.
